Current Situation

UPDATE 12/10/23 - 7:00 PM As of this evening, the ELM Fire spans 65 acres and is 80% contained.

Despite challenging windy conditions persisting throughout the day, the diligent efforts of firefighters have successfully prevented the further spread of the fire. Significant progress has been made in increasing containment, a testament to the efforts on the ground.

Fire resources will remain on the scene throughout the evening and into tomorrow, improving containment and extinguishing hotspots.

UPDATE 12/10/23 - 8:00 AM Firefighters worked overnight and containment is at 40%. Firefighters will remain on-scene throughout the day today building and strengthening containment lines,

UPDATE 7:20 PMThe fire is at 65 acres, 15% contained. Road closures remain in effect. This will be the final update of the evening unless significant changes occur.

UPDATE 2:30 PM The fire is 65 acres, 15% contained. The forward rate of spread has been stopped. Firefighters will remain on-scene throughout today and tonight continuing to work on building containment lines. The evacuation WARNING has been lifted.

UPDATE 1:00 PM The fire is now 65 acres, 0% contained. High winds in the area continue to be a concern and hindrance to firefighters who continue to work on containment lines,

UPDATE 12:20 PM The fire is holding at 50 acres, still 0% contained. CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire is in Unified Command with Riverside County Sheriff's Office.

UPDATE 11:15 AM The fire is 50 acres and 0% contained. Road closures are in place at Eucalyptus/Esperanza and Almond/Esperanza.

Firefighters are on-scene of 10 acres burning at a dangerous rate of spread, with 5-10 MPH west winds pushing it. Additional resources requested and responding.
